What’s up everyone.  What you read in the title is legit, and I have to give a shout out to the people of Carlsberg for providing us with the libation for an event that went down recently.  This was the second time Carlsberg came through with ensuring that we had the proper beverages to keep the party going.  The event was dope, which was expected, and it was good to see some familiar faces.  Definately highlight of the night were the mango coconut treats that were sweeter than the ladies in attendance.  Shout out to all the people that attended, and to all the new cats that I got to meet.

In honour of the event, the homey Dan Chan wrote a little blurb about the event that went something like this:

“The good folks at Matchstick pimp out another bash with probably the best beer in the world, Carlsberg.  This time, the tasty suds accompanied a feast of raw vegan delicacies, prepared by a budding young catering company made up of Alina, Erika and Vivian.  My favourite treat served by the ladies were the mango and coconut frozen yogurt type things!  Sporadic, Sonny, and the crew had a laugh and said farewell to a friend of ours who’s leaving for a contract in Dubai.  By the end of the night, the food was gone, and the cases were filled with empties.  Thanks to Lisa and the Matchstick crew!”

I also want to give a shout to my club, Golden Harmony Kung Fu, for showing a strong performance at the recent provincial sanshou qualifiers.  I’m out to party like a rockstar tonight, so see you when I see you.

M.I.C. Canada vs UK Mixtape!!!

TopLeft Recordings and Canadian based hip hop website HipHopCanada.com have released a new mixtape from the M.I.C. (Made In Canada) series.  M.I.C. Canada vs UK features 14 tracks from Canadian and UK artists.  The track that I have featured on there, titled “Keep Hustin’”, is a exclusive.  Produced by Simple P, the track covers the topic of perservering through thick and thin to reach your goals.  Simple P lays out a ghostly beat which adds to the emotion of the lyrics.

This track is one of the many collab’s between me and P.  He’s one of the many contributors to my upcoming album, set to be released this summer, and I have to say that he’s not one to slouch when it comes to putting in work.  His skills on beatmaking originate from his classical piano training that he took from childhood, and his love of Keith Jarret’s music.  Currently, P is on a two month leave of absence in NY finishing up projects with Hell Razah and Tellavizion.  Look out for those projects set to drop later on this year.  To hear some of Simple P’s work, go to the links section or click here.
